Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. U.S. federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law allows financial companies to share nonpublic personal information necessary for processing or administering a financial transaction requested or authorized by a consumer. In addition, federal law allows information sharing for purposes of preventing fraud, responding to judicial process or a subpoena, or complying with federal, state, or local laws.
